Football is a religion to many, but to Iraqis, it means a lot more than that. War, terror and suffering has given us little to find joy in, leaving football as our only real source of happiness. As young Iraqis living in England, we fully appreciate just how difficult it can be to get English news on our beloved Iraqi national team.

Our small team of writers have been following Iraqi football since 2001, keeping close tabs on the Athens 2004 Olympics, the historic 2007 Asian Cup win, and various other events. We’ve seen the highs and the lows of Iraqi football.
